Happy Halloween

This was a fun year even though we only had about one group of six kids. We got to dress up in our awesome costumes and at least scare each other. The house also looked awesome. We had our own graveyard with "fog" and spider webs and our pumpkins lit the walk way up to the front door where we had our flaming cauldron. We also watched the six hour Ghost Hunters Live special on the SciFi channel.

This is our graveyard in the front of the house. It looks really cool except for the hose.

This is right above our graveyard. It is kind of hard to see, but the web covers the font of the house.

These are our pumpkins that leads up to the front door. They look pretty bad but that is because they started to rot. They did look a lot better on Halloween night.

This is the our flaming cauldron by the front door. It lites up the end of the walk way and the front door too.

This is our hanging skeleton that hung out on the fence up to the front door. He use to have two silver eyes in those dark sockets, but one was missing so Denny got a good deal on it and i fixed him up. I think he looks much better now.

This is Denny in his Undead Death Knight costume. We are dressing up as our characters from World Of Warcraft, our favorite game. Every time I went into the house to get something, I would turn around and there would be Denny in his costume just standing there in the dark. Spooky!

This is me in my Undead Warlock costume. It is missing just a few things but next year our costumes should be complete. I have very cool shoulder pads that I need to finish but they are going to look awesome when they are done. It was a fun year :)

I thought I would put this one up just because of how the picture came out. I thought it looked pretty cool.

Back To School

I know it has been a VERY long time since we made a new post but this is why. School has been keeping us so busy we don't have very much time to relax. With work in-between school plus homework and studying, life has just been crazy. We can't wait until December when school is out. This is a picture of what our late nights look like. Soda to stay awake and the books and assignments piled high.

Back From Vacation

We are finally back from Florida and we had a WONDERFUL time. We have so many pictures but only a few will be showen. This is both of us with an alligator from an animal show that came to our condo. His name is Larry and he is very sweet. He let us hold him, take pictures with him, and even let us pet his belly! This was just one of the many adventures we had in Florida.

Octopus Project

For my final project in ceramics this semester, I had to make a set with at least a bowl, cup, and plater. After making my octopus bowl i was inspired to continue with this theme. I made two cups and a matching plater. Everything took me a very long time to make, but everything came out great. The bowl took me three classes to make (that would be nine hours), the cups took two days (one day to throw the cup, then the next day to make the handle), and the platter took me one class (between three and four hours non-stop). Each tentacl on every piece was made individually using one to four diffrent size coils. Now that is a lot of work. The bowl was made with a combonation of three and four diffrent size coils while the cups were made with two and the platter was made with one. Let me know what you guys think.

Here are all the pieces together. You can really see all the coils and how they go together.

Here is the octopus bowl upside down so you can see all eight tenticals.

And here is the inside of the bowl. Isn't it beautiful?! This is my favorite piece that I've made all year.

Ashley's Art Work Is Finished!

My masks that i posted back in March are now glazed and painted. They look beautiful and I couldn't wait to show them :) Here is the Japanese Devil Mask with a high fired glaze called "iron red." Sorry about the soda cans, it was the only thing to prop him up. :D
Another angle of the Japanese Devil Mask.

Here are Squee and Shmee painted with acrylic paint.

It's A Boy!

Oops! Denny and I found out that our new baby Shelby is not a girl. ITS A BOY! We thought it was a girl because of his shell. The bottom of his shell seemed to be more flat, indicating he was a female. Then, we decided to check the internet to see if there were any other ways to find out if she was a she or if she was really a he. We found the best way is to check the tail. Females have short stuby tails and males have long fat tails. Shelby has a HUGE FAT tail and we know now that she is a he. As of today, Shelby is now known as Stanly, or Stan for short.

Our New Tortoise!

This is our new baby, Shelby. We adopted her after she was brought to Denny's work. She was hit by a car and someone found her and took her to Petacular. They then called the Oakley Vet and brought her down. Her shell was almost cracked completly around, but with a little glue and some wire screen she is back to being a tortoise again. She loves going outside to eat the leaves off of the weeds and her favorite treat are those little dandelions you always see in your back yard. We named her Shelby after the Shelby GT Mustang because she can move very fast. We love her some much and are lucky to have her.

Happy Birthday Bruno!

Today is Bruno's birthday and he is turning five. Bruno currently lives with Denny's parents in Nevada and we miss him so much. He is never too tired to play a nice game of tug-of-war or "superfast!" :) Have a big piece of cake for us and a wonderful birthday Boon Dog! We love you! (and Nitara too!)

Pinch Pot

This is a picture of our first project, a pinch pot. Everyone starts out with a ball of clay and have to "pinch" it into a pot. You can make it look any way you want it. Some made theirs look like a face while others, like me, made theirs look a little diffrent. Its suppose to be a mouth with teeth and a tounge sticking out. Pretty cool, huh? There will also be an update of the glaze/paint job.

More Of Ashley's Art Work

This one is inspired from a great artist. Jhonen Vasquez has created many brilliant characters like the two put together in this 1/2 and 1/2 mask. The comic-book-style series is called Johnny The Homicidal Maniac. On the right is a boy named Squee who is friends with his homicidal neighbor Johnny. On the left is Squee's bear named Shmee. In the Squee series, you learn that Shmee........ well, if I told you then it would ruin the suprise and meaning behind the mask. If you want to know more, check out the book. Again, this piece is not yet finished, but I will be painting it with acrilic paint. My favorite!

Ashley's Art Work

This semester I'm taking a ceramics class at Los Medanos community college. I have taken art for six years now and I love it. This is a picture of a mask that I did for a project. Its a Devil mask from Japan, or supposed to be. This mask hasn't been glazed yet but once it is, there will be a new picture.

Thank You Uncle Steve!

Thank you Uncle Steve and James for the wonderful birthday wishes. So far I've been taken to the Egyption Museum, shopping at the mall, and I just saw Ghost Rider. (If you haven't seen it yet, you SHOULD!) lol! I will have more pictures to come :)
